Lyrics:
(i used to live a block away from the annual carnival. i'd keep my bedroom window open and fall asleep to those crazy mechanical sounds and screams. but this song takes place in the off-season. and there is a sung introduction that goes: it was a starry but sorry excuse for a night that held me to the ground, i was waiting in line for a carnival ride with a second hand bracelet i'd found, then the clouds covered up and the rain came down all my friends started heading for home, and i said 'no no no no i will not ride alone.')
i heard screaming but they were carnival screams i must have been dreaming i saw lights overhead, spinning and streaming i must have been dreaming then the lights went out and i was lying on the ground, i must be asleep. then i saw you, under the stars and the moon and you were freezing yeah i saw you but you were cold and you said that you were leaving. what a terrible dream. then the sound of a slammed door woke me up and i raised my head to see the last leaving carnival truck, oh.
